final art illustrations

as a team myself and Leah O Byrne, split the four scenes the research time had written up and drew our own illustrations for those scenes. i took scenes 2 and 3 and Leah did scenes 1 and 4. i began work on my illustrations so that the other members of the group would be able to use them to create the intro sequence. scene 2: Foggy and his brothers play with their hurls pretending they're riffles preparing for battle. Scene 3: Foggy and his brothers are in the sitting room, drinking and playing cards talking about their father. Saying they must avenge his death.

The current phase of progress is research on our project right now, the main research for the timeline of events during the first day of the 1916 rising. the game is going to be the first day of the rising and how everything kicked off and started one the most important times in Ireland. The history of the events are very important and comes first before anything else so we all know where to go with it stylistically and in my case, artistically. I know i will be working with Leah to create a collection of 6/7 stills illustrated to 'set' the story up before the game begins, highly influenced by story mode games. I will be creating stills such as Foggy playing with hurls to imitate guns with his brothers and dad, then transitioning into the scene of his dad being murdered by being shot from across the field, turning the whole scene into a war zone in the rising. Other stills include a snapshot from a boy running through the cross fire of the rising, Pearse on front of the GPO...

My Role - 19Sixteen

My role in the group is mainly artistic, i am the head of the Art Department. I will be in charge of the illustrations of the game, designing and producing the visuals on screen. I will be working alongside a fellow member Leah O Byrne. I look forward to working with her to create some really great visuals to really sell this game. I would consider myself very artistically inclined and jump at any chance to whip out the art supplies!! we will be looking at the style of clothing back then, the buildings in Dublin, especially around the city center. ths research will greatly help us when it comes to creating the illustrations as it will make them more accurate for the time. Multimedia 2 - New Chapter

This semester, Multimedia Development is something a bit different. Instead of the individual work, we decided to create a group project, using all of our skills together to create something bigger, better. I decided to join a group of 19 members to design and create an interactive, story-based game on the 1916 rising. I am excited to see how this project will pan out and my contribution in it.

I'm DONE!! the long and challenging road to making a game is over, through all the hard work and countless blog posts, we've reached the end game. creating and designing this game has been difficult yet inspiring, i found myself getting lost in making my game not noticing the time, it was definitely something i got into. the thing i found most difficult was figuring out how i wanted to design my game, i had certain ideas and then my mind would change on it resulting in a different outcome. i liked letting my imagination take the lead in this situation. the beta version of my game is simple, i didn't want a very difficult or intricate design as it would be harder to do and do well. im happy with how my beta version turned out! A lovely view from the other side of the maze!

Unity Free Tutorials

I watched a few Unity tutorials on creating a maze game, including third person controller with a character. This tutorial helped with my game is it gives me a better understanding of how i can achieve a better layout and user inter-activeness. i learned more about placing items around the maze to give the character more to find and help with them getting out of the maze. i found the free browsing of unity tutorials very beneficial as there was weeks of unity tutorials that didn't apply to my game while i was creating it. Some of skills shown in those tutorials were helpful yet didn't apply to me, and a couple of times i would research other tutorials to help me out. The message of this weeks reading is all about the story of a game. How the mechanics and the minor technical details are all very important yes, but that the main story, or feeling you get when you play is the real gem.
