time strategies

Image
This week is all about time management, and how we deal under stress and when we have deadlines to meet. Our college timetable is busy and needs to be kept up with, it is important that we keep on top of our work load and not to let it get too intense.  The best way to do this is to prioritize, make sure the bigger assignments are getting looked at, chipping away at them slowly so nothing piles up. It is always important to make sure the smaller assignments are not neglected, it's all about balance.  I read some of the articles provided for us, to name a few,  https://hbr.org/2016/07/how-to-beat-procrastination  - 'How to Beat Procrastination' by Caroline Webb and  https://www.canva.com/learn/time-management/  - 'Time management Tips just for Creatives' by Amanda Oliver. Webb talks about how our brains are wired to procrastinate, avoiding the inevitable and putting off our work. One tip i picked up n his her advice to picture how good it'll be to have it

technology

The tools we use in this module are very helpful, they can be used for many different things and used in many different ways. The blog itself is a very useful tool as we can visit others sites and view their work, draw from inspiration and get new ideas from new people.  Using technology itself can be very useful as many different applications can aid us, such as bookmarking priority sites, using editing software or any other design or creation app. They can all aid us in our work and how we design and produce, along with helping us during the process.  Source: http://www.wiu.edu/university_technology/

assignments

Image
The layout of these assignments is very interesting, in one respect it's weird to not submit assignments and to just write blog posts on them but on the other hand I enjoy the freedom of it. I enjoy how personal it is and the own unique spin I can put on my work. I like how we can do it all on our own accord, along with the extra credit exercises. It's a great way for us to get extra help and aid us us our work. Credit: ©iStockphoto.com/mattjeacock

growth mindset

Image
This week’s blog is all about Growth Mindset. The whole idea of being on a learning curve and the idea of improving and growing in education and knowledge. Carol Dweck's TED talk is very enlightening as she delves into the idea of growth mindset, and how our minds are conditioned to be hard on ourselves and see our failures more than our winnings. Personally, I see myself on the growth mindset spectrum as I find myself focusing most on my failures and how I should improve, and how I react to feedback and how my brain decides to take it on and grow and learn through my work and use it to improve my skills. In my own college life, I have my own goals to set out to achieve, such as doing well in all of my modules and applying myself fully, most importantly in modules and assignments that may not be my strong point, or where my interests lie. For the modules that I do have interests in or have great passion for, I plan to aim for the highest results and achieve my goals.

Introduction to loving film

Image
Film is one of the most magical creations of all time in my opinion. Being transported to a new world, filled with new adventures and new people to meet along the way, it sounds a lot like a book, but it’s the visual aspect of storytelling that gives people that magical feeling. From the way in which a film is shot, location, ideas, hidden messages right down to soundtracks, it makes up a different kind of experience from a book, stimulating multiple senses and engaging the audience with the characters and story line. How many times have you seen a movie and have just been mesmerised? The director making you fall in love with characters, grow to love or hate a character, cry at the sad bits and have happy tears at the good bits? The magic of cinema and film truly connects with your emotions and brings you on a roller-coaster. The reason why I love film so much is because the smallest details are important, the angles of the camera, portraying emotions in a character to aid th

workshop 01: traffic lights

Image
This workshop was about traffic lights, a topic I would of never thought to delve into, but interesting none the less. The overall tone of this exercise was to help us improve, reflect on ourselves and figure out ways in which we could improve.  This whole exercise was a test to show us how groups work and how we all work within these groups. The deliverance of this exercise was very helpful, the visuals on the video and the interactivity of questions being asked and discussed within our groups. Working within a group can be very challenging and it may be very difficult to express your ideas or convey a message you have. This exercise was a good way to show us how we can communicate these ideas and how others will receive them. Writing these blog posts can be scary at first as I was unsure how I would take to it, how I would think of what to say or how it would even say it. But after the first post I’ve gotten used to the layout and the process of creating and posting blo

this is my favourite game

Image
When it comes to games, there will always be that one app that sits on your phone that you always return to time and time again. For me, it's Temple Run. Dangerously addictive, well designed, and thoroughly enjoyable. Temple Run is a highly addictive, action packed engaging game.
