Introduction to loving film
Film is one of the most magical creations of all time in my
opinion. Being transported to a new world, filled with new adventures and new people
to meet along the way, it sounds a lot like a book, but it’s the visual aspect
of storytelling that gives people that magical feeling.
From the way in which a film is shot, location, ideas,
hidden messages right down to soundtracks, it makes up a different kind of
experience from a book, stimulating multiple senses and engaging the audience
with the characters and story line. How many times have you seen a movie and
have just been mesmerised? The director making you fall in love with
characters, grow to love or hate a character, cry at the sad bits and have
happy tears at the good bits? The magic of cinema and film truly connects with
your emotions and brings you on a roller-coaster.
The reason why I love film so much is because the smallest
details are important, the angles of the camera, portraying emotions in a character
to aid the story line. Certain directors such as Spielberg or Tarantino have
such different styles in their movies, you can tell when Tarantino has directed
a movie due to his own personal style of film, it’s fascinating to watch
different directors create movies and how they chose to portray it.
The reason why I chose this as my topic to discuss as my introduction
is because I am so passionate and interested in film. It’s my favourite media
and I would love to go into any sort of production or film creating in the
future. Last semester we had a module called story telling and as part of an assignment
we had to discuss our favourite movie, I chose Silence of the Lambs as it is one
of my favourite movies. Analysing and discussing the cinematography of the film
was something I thoroughly enjoyed and was very good at as I have a good
understanding about film. I am extremely excited to start our digital video techniques
module this year as it is something I’m very passionate about and have a lot of
interest in.
Film is truly one of the greatest things we have in our
lives and there is so much more than that meets the eye, all the magic takes
place behind the camera first to make the magic happen on screen.

Hi Leah! I loved your introduction, it was different than most peoples as you talked about your passion for film rather than yourself. Your use of rhetorical questions in the second paragraph really drew me in, and your references to directors styles like Tarantino's in the third paragraph was good. Tarantino has such a unique style that you know you are watching one of his films. Overall your introduction is brilliantly written and that was a nice sentence to end on too. I look forward to reading your blog again in the future.
